Of course they give the service free and rely on the ads like this site. None of it is intrusive and it is the volume that keeps the sites running. Most of these social networking sites make little profit so they want no legal bills.

If you like they provide a brilliant service for free out of a belief system. Go and down load the free Open Office and you will see an example of a product that beats Microsoft Office hands down.

The great thing about the internet is it provides outlets for the wonderfully intellectual non conformists.

Didn't realise that this kind of website wasn't paid for - That's excellent value!! Very Happy

Yes I've had Open Office for years and it's a great product at a brilliant price... Laughing

Plenty good enough for my modest needs but I still prefer Word 97 for quick wordprocessing as it opens in a trice and has some bits I like that aren't in OO

Not having received any response from Mr Foy I have now emailed him with the following information:

"Dear Mr Foy,

I am saddened that I have still received no response from you. I would, as I have said already, appreciate a timely response to the serious issues that I have raised. May I draw your attention to an extract from NING:

“1.4. Acceptable Use and Conduct
You are solely responsible for your conduct, Your Social Networks, Your Code, and Your Content on the Ning Platform … the use of the Ning Platform for unlawful or harmful activities is not allowed … you specifically agree that:
You will not post, email or make available any Content to Users or use the Ning Platform:
• in a manner that is misleading, deceptive or fraudulent or otherwise illegal or promotes illegal activities, including engaging in phishing or … otherwise for fraudulent or misleading purposes;
• in a manner that is libelous or defamatory, or in a way that is otherwise threatening, abusive, violent, harassing, malicious or harmful to any person or entity, or invasive of another's privacy;
• in a manner that is hateful or discriminatory … or is otherwise objectionable, as reasonably determined by Ning;
Additionally, you agree not to:
to authorize or encourage any third party to use the Ning … to facilitate any of the foregoing prohibited conduct.”

I believe that Mr Thompson’s comments on your site would fall under these conditions and represent a breach of acceptable use and conduct. Though I am reluctant to notify Ning, should I not receive a response in the near future I will feel obliged to make a formal complaint to your website provider.

I await your response,

Lis Warwood

Robin Foy was attending two circles at Montecabirol in France where Zammit was recently.

Hameau Montcabirol is a residential spiritual retreat and healing sanctuary. Home of The Yellow Cloud circle of Eternal Illumination.

During your stay you could experience a demonstration of Physical mediumship from physical medium Tom Morris and The Yellow Cloud Circle Of Eternal Illumination.You can receive Spiritual Healing through healing medium Kevin Lawrenson.

"A message to all members of Physical Mediumship 4U

Following a controversial exchange of letters with a non-member who had issues with the validity of the physical mediumship of one of our members (and amounting to a personal attack on that medium) I have now changed the privacy category of the site so that the main content can only be viewed by members - and not by the general public. Whilst I am happy to welcome all new members who are generally interested in physical mediumship and physical phenomena, it is no longer appropriate for non members to have full access; as a number of these have proved to be against physical mediumship and its phenomena for religious or other reasons.
This is a positive site for the sharing and exchanging of information about the subject, and it is important that we do not allow negativity and personal attacks to dominate the site.
If anybody has a real grievance, they should contact me personally and we can work it out together."

It is clear that Mr Foy is referring to my correspondence with him regarding the outrageous and defamatory remarks made by David Thompson. I would stress here, since it is clear that neither Mr Foy or David Thompson are willing to act with honesty in this matter, that I did not mount a Personal attack" on DT or his mediumship. I did raise concerns about the inaccurate, misleading, and defamatory remarks DT had made and provided information that confirms the untrue nature of the statements.

It would seem, that anybody with "a real grievance" would on contacting Mr Foy receive little assistance and no attempt whatsoever to see that the problem is "worked out" together or otherwise.

I agree with Lis it sadly appears Mr Foy may be sidestepping this issue. Unfortunately it appears that he is willing to leave DT's "inaccurate, misleading, and defamatory remarks" available to be read by members, which still represents publication of defamatory material.

People will have read Lis's overview of the letter she wrote to Mr Foy which makes no mention of Mr Foy's claim that they had
issues with the validity of the physical mediumship of one of our members (and amounting to a personal attack on that medium)
. This was not mentioned just the matters relevant to DT's attack on 3 people who started this site being of dubious character and one with a criminal record. I note Lis also approached the attack by DT on this site (which attack seemed to me to be almost egotistical seeming to infer the site was set up for the purpose of attacking him).

These are lies, I am the sole creator of the site, I have no criminal record and DT would be one of the very few people who feel I have a dubious character. I can produce as character attestations at least 2 holders of the Order of Australia plus many senior figures in Adelaide and elsewhere in Business, personal and Spiritualist circles. DT's claims are risible and negative as they also attack this site which is dedicated to promote Spiritualism and share its knowledge and history.

I also remind you of the laughable but unpleasant way they handled the ban on me. This after I had been involved in helping set the contact up for the seances in Adelaide and was actually promoting it to help.
Admin wrote:For a matter of interest this is what COSC wrote to me as the reason for the ban

"Your need again to use a public forum, such as the Spiritualist Chatroom, to air your reservations about David's mediumship instead of directing them to the Circle, can only invoke negativity where there is a need bring harmony. "

I then contacted the Moderator of the old SCR forum involved, where all my posts had appeared, I was stunned at what level of comment may be regarded as negative because I actually felt I had not crossed any obvious lines,

The moderator responded in a Private Message, which is amongst material rescued from that old Spiritualist Chat Room during the many hacking attacks that resulted in its final disablement. The message said
"Hi Jim

I am quite shocked by that news. Speaking as mod of the PM forum, I am unaware of anything inappropriate that you have said or done. May I have your permission to share your message with the forum admin. I am very uneasy and disappointed about what's happened."

They went further than this in other emails. All because at one time I had been involved in discussions about the seance attendance form (actually then but not now in support of DT), had indicated that the seances in the UK were good value compared to oz prices and that the Trance Healing had not, despite DT being wild about the energy in the room at the time, given anything other than temporary alleviation of health issues, so I was looking forward to meeting him to discuss this and how the effects could be enhanced.

It was after the banning that all the other matters appeared, brought out by a large and wide ranging group. Indeed the information I had been receiving meant I was just about to cancel my seance place when the ban arrived. Subsequently more information came out, the issues listed in this one thread represent information from many people on the old SCR. I have also tried to ensure that any reference to DT remains, as much as possible in this single thread, to minimise his impact on my site.

I think it is also important that people realise this site is not anti Physical Mediumship or any mediumship. The Physical Mediumship and the Trance and Direct Voice threads are full of wonderful examples of genuine Mediumship.

However, we follow the approach that was always a part of Spiritualism, as the movement includes the description of being a Science and a Truth. To question and attempt to resolve inconsistencies, so those that approach a Medium do so on the basis of all known information, with some certainty that they are credible. We will always support anyone developing their Physical Mediumship but as it is seen as the finest example of proof of survival it also requires the highest level of evidence and proof

In DT's case we are not saying that he is not a Physical Medium, although he cannot, per the definition generally accepted, be classed a full materialisation medium because that would require full body recognisable in sufficient light and known to someone in the room (equally if they speak we would need some consistency in dialogue and phraseology). What we are saying is that the issues in this thread raise questions which still require resolution. That to resolve the issues succesfully can only create more widespread credibility, removing ways in which the real sceptics can attack Physical Mediumship which currently is all to easy.

Obviously the non members of PM4U will no longer see the threads but back in March 2009, in a discussion thread in the COSC area under, new energy vs ectoplasm, Marion Dampier-Jeans wrote an interesting article strongly noting her views that to remove reservations on PM would require scientific research and the introduction of light in the seances. Its a wonder to me it was ever left on the site.

Regards
Jim

We would be very foolish if we did not 'test the spirits' and examine, discuss, sift and question over again, that which we hold to be true.
The vibrant medium of today can stumble and fall just as we all can. Even if through infirmity
